Blogging Made Easy – Review

So if you’re following me on my Instagram you will know that I have recently read the book ‘Blogging Made Easy’. I first saw this book on one of my all time favourite Youtubers channel; Rumena Begum. So I purchased the book as I am always looking to better my blog as a whole and I am so glad that I did! This book covers everything any newbie or even an experienced blogger would need!

So I thought I would do a quick review of what this book covers and my thoughts on it.

I first started blogging as a hobby, something I could do in my spare time as I was driving myself crazy, sat around all day getting bigger! (I was pregnant and had to drop out of university). I never realised I would actually learn so much and that the blogging world is so BIG! I am not complaining I actually love blogging and have found myself in such a good place I never thought it would be this much fun! Anyway back to the point, so I wish I had this book back then , although I do believe in learning from your own mistakes.

So what does this book cover, from the very basics of blogging so where to start and what platforms are recommended, I love how with each point made in this book there are recommendations for you to go and check out. The book goes through each and every social media platform in full detail and explains literally everything about each platform which was my MOST favourite part of the whole book! I learnt so much and I have applied so many things into my own blog/social media sites and I have already seen so much difference in my stats I am so pleased! I can only see this going making my blog go bigger and better!

The book goes into detail about SEO and ways to really get your blog out there, I personally had no idea about SEO and how important it was to apply it into my blogs and honestly I have taken it all on board and like I said before I am seeing results in my stats, although everyone says ‘don’t watch your stats’ I can’t help but see how well everything is going eeek! For a very very small blogger this is honestly a huge achievement!

I like that throughout the book there are case studies from other bloggers who give their tips to make your blog successful, it also features one of my favourite Youtubers!

The book also covers brand collaborations, how to reach out to brands and PR companies, this was something I am now looking into as I  have been blogging for almost a year now and I feel like I am ready to step it up a notch and really get my blog out there, I am always finding ways, small tips and tricks and honestly this book is FULL of them! It is all the small things put together which help build your blog and social media!

I am nowhere near where I want to be however building my blog every day is what I love doing and I am going to keep doing! This book has honestly made me see things differently and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking about starting a blog or anyone who is already blogging!

One thing I would like to add is, have a notepad and pen ready to take notes, I had a lot of things to note down and I also marked pages that were I felt were most important for me. This book gives you everything you need and at the end it explains what you need to do next so I was ready to start working on my blog!

You can purchase this book from Amazon HERE, before purchasing the book you can read some of the beginning, when I say some I mean it’s actually quite a lot, I did this and then decided to buy the whole book,.

I purchase this book myself, it was not given to me for free or to review and the above review is my own opinion and was not influenced by any third party!

Kat Von D vs Nars: Concealers

I recently purchased the Kat Von D ‘Lock It’ concealer and as it is a new product in the U.K and I know many people want to know how it performs and if its worth the buy I thought I could compare it with my all time favourite Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, this is also a high end product, so if your looking for a ‘dupe’ or a cheaper alternative, this is not what i am discussing today, I have not come across a for this yet.

Nars Radiant creamy concealer: Custard (yellow undertones, light/medium skin)

Kat Von D Lock It Concealer:  Medium Warm 17 (yellow undertones light skin/medium skin)

Packaging:

So firstly I want to talk about the packaging, The Nars concealer has a ‘soft touch’ and is made of rubber which gives it the feel of a high quality product! I personally love the packaging of all Nars products but they get dirty really easily and can look…ugly -.-! TheKat Von D concealer is from the ‘lock it’ range, so it has the same goth/tattoo inspired pattern, with the KVD logo on the lid/applicator.

Price:

Both the products look the same size height wise, the Nars one contains 6.23g of product and the KVD one contains 6.25g so not much of a difference at all, although the Nars one costs £22 and the KVD one costs £20, technically the KVD one would be the cheaper option with a little more product!! (not much more ofcourse, however I find the KVD you need less product to cover any specific area as a little bit goes a very long way!)

Application:

The applicator on both of the products is different, and I have no idea why I did htis but I forgot to take pictures of the Nars concealers applicator so I have included one off google as my comparison would be incomplete without it! So, the Nars applicator is like most concealers, its a wand like applicator with a straight tip with a slightly angled flat surface on one side, which is great for applying the concealer in most areas, however you may have to move around to get into small places, such as under the eye. The KVD concealers applicator is also like a wand however the tip is a triangle shape making it easier and more convenient for its use, I prefer the applicator of the KVD one.

I have applied both concealers using a concealer brush and the Real Techniques Miracle Sponge, I usually use my fingers to blend then go in with a tool, I prefer the sponge, for this post I tested both to see which one works best, for me the sponge gives a flawless finish, especially with the KVD concealer as the consistency is very thick.

Shade:

Nars Radiant creamy concealer: Custard (yellow undertones, light/medium skin)

Kat Von D Lock It Concealer:  Medium Warm 17 (yellow undertones light skin/medium skin)

The Nars concealer is perfect for my skin tone it is slightly lighter, thats how I like my concealer to be, as it conceals and gives a highlighted effect, so I matches my KVD concealer to  my skin trusting youtubers/online bloggers/google as I ordered online and I didn’t know what shade would match, I do feel like the KVD one is lighter however I feel it gives the same effect as the Nars one, as they both contain yellow undertones, the KVD one looks more yellow.

Coverage/Wear:

The coverage of the Nars concealer would be Medium/full, and once set it stays in place without sinking into lines or creasing and lasts up to 8 hours however nearer to the end of the day it does start to disappear, which I find happens with most concealers. The KVD one is full coverage once it is on it covers ANYTHING! blemishes, spots, dark circles (I find colour correcting helps to keep the area look more light), once set with a powder the concealer holds well, however I do notice after a couple of hours it sets into the fine lines under my eyes, the concealer itself conceals up to 8 hours without disappearing like the Nars one! Both concealers are known to have thick consistency, however comparing them both the KVD is more thicker and much more pigmented!

Overall I like both of these the KVD one would be my favourite as its full coverage and very pigmented, however it really bothers me that it creases! I have tried different ways to set it however I feel it still creases! if anyone has any solutions please leave them below!!

Eid 2016 MOTD

Eid has been fun!!  Although it can get really hectic towards the end of the day, I still had a great time with family and as any other occasion eid is a great excuse to get dolled up and I love it! Here are my MOTD for the first day of eid

On the first day of EID I did a full makeup look! the glitter! heavy contour! bold eyes! the lot!! here are the details and my finished look!

Base:

I wanted to go for a long full coverage base that will stay all day! So I primed my fave with the mens post shaving balm and colour corrected my under eyes and redness on my face using the L a girl HD coloured concealers in orange for my under eyes and green for any redness on my face. I used the Nars All Day Luminous Foundation mixed with Maybelline Fit Me foundation and to conceal my under eyes I used the Nars creamy concealer

Eyes/Brows:

On my eyes I used the MAC Paint pot all over my eye lid to cancel out any discoloration and then took the shade ‘strange’ from the Urban Decay naked 3 palette  and applied it in the inner corner of my eye, I then took the shade ‘limit’ and blended it into the crease and then applied the shade ‘nooner’  for a bolder crease, I then took the shade ‘darkside and blended it into the outer corner of my eye in a ‘V’ shape along the actual shape of my eye. I then took my brush I used to apply ‘nooner’ and blended the shades together half way up the crease line I intensified that using the shade ‘blackheart’. Lastly, I applied the shade ‘burnout’ on my eyelid and then went over it with the shade ‘trick’.  I lined my eyes using my all time favourite AOM Extreme Art Liner and used the Maybelline Lash Sensational for my lashes! For my brows I applied the Wunder Brow (this stuff is amazing I recently purchased this and will be doing a review ssooon!!) to highlight my brow bone I used the shade ‘strange’ from the naked 3 palette.

Face:

Contouring is my mist favourite thing about doing my makeup as this can give you a subtle natural look or a defined and sharp look I LOVE IT!!  So to contour and highlight I used my AOM Contour sticks and then I used the shades ‘Java’ and ‘Havana’ Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour kit to enhance the contour and the shades ‘Vanilla’ and ‘Banana’ to enhance the areas I highlighted. I used my FAVOURITE blusher palette the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Blusher PaletteI used all three of the bottom shades, ‘Lo-fi’, ‘Hush’ ‘OC’.  and to highlight I used the Stila Luminizer! and lastly to set my face I used the Urban Decay ‘all nighter’ Setting spray!

Here is the finished look!!
